A Taste of Norway, Part One: Bergen and Beyond
A unique guide covering all the gems from Bergen’s vibrant streets to the iconic Trolltunga hike, with fjords, ferries, and bucket-list experiences along the way.
I can pinpoint the exact moment this trip to Norway began to take shape. It was 2022, in the middle of Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia. As we sized up a passing hiker, we joked that they were probably Norwegian, which almost immediately inspired a longing to know Norway’s towering peaks. Looking back, that nice hiker probably wasn’t even Norwegian at all, but it didn’t matter. The seed had been planted, and suddenly, a trip to this picturesque Scandinavian country was starting to come to life in my mind.
Last year, I finally had the lucky opportunity to make this daydream a reality and I am so excited to finally share about my experiences here on Well Traveled.
Over the next few weeks and a three-part series, I’ll be taking you through this Norwegian adventure, filled with fjords, ferries, and plenty of leg-burning hikes.

We kicked things off in Bergen, Norway’s second-largest city, where the charm of a seaside town still lingers in the air. Our mission of visiting Norway was to dive straight into Norway’s untamed landscapes. So, after a whirlwind 24 hours of wandering vibrant streets, devouring cardamom buns from Solros Cafe, and soaking up the rare Bergen sunshine, we were ready to hit the road.
Before we say goodbye to Bergen, here are a few recommendations for anyone passing through or lucky enough to spend more time in this charming town.
